6 Keys to RD Industries Success: Development

In my last message, I touched on the 6 key factors that I think make RD Industries great. Today, I would like to expand upon the importance of development within our company. People, products and processes are the three principal areas that receive the majority of our development focus.

People

We invest in the development of our people every day at RD Industries. Whether it is the day-to-day growth or long-term professional progress, fostering the talent within the company is first and foremost. As Kathryn Minshew said, “A company is only as good as its people.” I feel that the investment in our employees will only propel the company towards the success we envision.

Product

Product development is a continuous improvement process at RDI. Our established customers know that several of our products have seen multiple enhancements. These changes occur as our products mature with each improving version. Customer feedback, internal testing and market understanding have led to these modifications. We refuse to remain stagnant if there is an opportunity to improve our product as well as provide innovation into the marketplace.

Processes

Processes to produce our best products have evolved over time. Most come from internal recognition, knowing where we could improve. We now have several processes in place at different stages of the product lifecycle that we feel bring about the best product. From sales to product development and production, utilization of improved processes is just as important as the development of our people and our products.

As with everything, all of these areas are in constant evolution in order to keep RD Industries on the path to growth. I feel we have found a great formula for development and that puts us right where we need to be – poised for the future.

Sincerely,
Rod Laible

A Message from CEO/Owner Rod Laible

Looking back on 2015, it was a great year, full of growth and change for RD Industries. In order to increase capacity and build upon existing production processes, we made the addition of new molding machines and automated assembly machines. We celebrated these additions with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in April 2015. These additions have helped us increase production and to continue manufacturing all of our products in the U.S.A.

October brought a successful ISSA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. As the major tradeshow in the JAN/SAN industry, ISSA always provides us with the opportunity to catch up with current customers, meet with potential customers and network with our partners in the industry. As always, it is great to see the newest trends and to build upon them to offer new solutions.

We are very excited entering 2016. We will continue to implement ways in which we can enhance our capacity as well as the quality of our products.  In the coming months, we will focus on all the aspects that have helped shape RD Industries: Imagination, Inspiration, Innovation, Implementation, Development and Domination. We will explore each one on a deeper level, and how I believe that each of these areas are key to our success and move us toward a brighter future here at RD Industries.  Stay tuned!

Sincerely,
Rod Laible

Closed Loop Portable Dispensing Unit Allows for Safe and Easy Chemical Dispensing

RD Industries has a long-standing tradition of providing innovative solutions for chemical containment and dispensing. Our closed loop chemical system allows us to provide the safest and most effective products in the chemical dispensing industry.

As with any business, as industries change there’s always need for innovation. Our end-users are no exception, as they seek solutions to utilize safe and effective closed loop chemical containment systems. Our portable dispensing units are an example of how we help end-users maximize efficiency when sanitizing their workplace. This closed loop portable dispensing unit can be deployed anywhere there is a water source; minimizing back and forth trips to a central mixing station.  Portable units are also much less expensive to purchase, install, and maintain than wall-mounted systems.

As with any of RD Industries’ closed loop chemical dispensing and containment products, this portable dispensing unit provides accurate dilution control, helps maintain cleaning and chemical costs and is easy to use.

End-Users Making Changes to Closed Loop Chemical Dispensing Systems

Chemical manufacturers have previously pushed selling chemicals to end-users in a concentrated form. Concentrated chemicals cause resource and safety issues among end-users. And because of these concerns, end-users are seeking closed loop chemical dispensing systems.

RD Industries provides effective closed loop chemical containment and dispensing systems, engineering every connection and dispensing point to enforce total containment at every stage of the process. From installing a new refill, to dispensing the chemical, to replacing used refill containers – closed loop technology ensures the safety of end-users and allows them to effectively manage their resources.

The EPA states that six out of every 100 janitors are injured annually by exposure to harsh cleaning chemicals. Using closed loop chemical dispensing will prevent contact of concentrated chemical with end users as well as taking into account the environment at every stage of the process.

Helping Chemical Bottlers and Distributors Provide Safe Chemical Dispensing to End Users

When it comes to chemical manufacturers, chemical bottling companies and distributors, there’s an extensive amount of competition in reaching end-users with an affordable and efficient chemical dispensing tool. End-users are not looking for a sub-par, cheap solution – but rather a chemical dispensing solution that will offer long-term benefits and support.

Among the competition are large companies that do not offer the best chemical dilution solutions, nor the long-term support to back their products and services. Because of this, closed loop chemical systems have been sought after for its affordability, safety and resourcefulness. Closed loop chemical systems implement the general understanding that cleaning and sanitation is a science, requiring training and efficiency at each phase of chemical handling and dilution.

At RD Industries we strive to provide chemical bottlers and distributors the means to give end-users a safe, affordable product. Contact us to find out how a closed loop chemical dispensing and dilution system can increase business and provide high quality products for your end-users.

Importance of Finding the Right Fit for Closed Loop Chemical Containment

The right fit – this concept can apply universally to many topics – and couldn’t be more important than finding the right fit as it relates to packaging and containing highly concentrated chemicals. To prevent a bottleneck in your process, that’s exactly where you should start – with the neck of your bottle.

Contrary to popular belief, not all containers of the same size are manufactured to the same specifications. Neck finishes, thickness and smoothness vary by manufacturer and in some cases from run to run.

RD’s commitment to providing safe chemical containment and dispensing solutions involves you working with our Engineering team to spec your bottle for a precise closed loop insert fit. We carefully measure your bottle samples (to the thousandths of an inch) and fit them with the proper size insert. The risks associated with not having a precise fit between a closed loop insert and the bottle neck can result in product leaking during shipment, improper dispensing, environmental and work place hazards and overall product waste.

Maintaining Quality Control Through Closed Loop Systems

When it comes to quality control of your cleaning operation, the first step toward a job well done is to provide deliberate and thorough training to the cleaning staff. This well-trained staff also needs to be equipped with easy-to-use chemical dilution and dispensing equipment that will facilitate their success.

Businesses and organizations – including hospitals, food-service facilities, hotels and schools – heavily rely on the hygiene of their facilities as part of their brand image. These same businesses often invest additional money and resources on cleaning quality control. And while it’s important to continually monitor the quality of a facility’s cleanliness, users who invest in closed loop chemical dilution and dispensing systems will see fewer resources spent on monitoring the cleaning results of their employees.

Closed loop chemical systems ensure every connection and dispensing point to enforce total containment and safety at every stage of the process – from installing a new chemical all the way through dispensing product. Closed loop chemical dilution and dispensing systems take the guess work out of mixing and diluting chemicals and allow the cleaning staff to execute their duties using less time and resources – preserving quality and saving money and your brand image.

Chemical manufacturers and distributors can help their end users achieve quality control through providing closed loop chemical systems. Allow us to help you!

When More Is Not Better – Using Proper Chemical Dilution

When it comes to cleaning and disinfecting chemicals, many end-users often think more is better. And while this may seem like logical thinking – it is, in fact, untrue. Chemicals are most effective for cleaning and disinfecting, and used most safely, when properly diluted.

Using more chemical can lead to sticky surfaces that attract dirt, and can lead to a longer cleaning time the second time around – wasting chemicals and your investment. Over-using chemicals can also lead to damage of the surface being cleaned and possible hard to the end user. Additionally, improper chemical dilution is bad for the environment – as it introduces more products unnecessarily into the environment.

End users can be educated on proper chemical dilution, but it is best achieved through closed loop chemical dispensing. Closed loop chemical dilution and dispensing works with the chemical, the packaging, and the dispensing device to eliminate human error and provide safe and effective end-user chemical use.

So while it’s often thought that more is better; or less-is-more – it’s true that the only way to use cleaning and disinfecting chemicals safely and effectively is at the recommended dilution. By providing end users with a closed loop chemical dilution system, chemical manufacturers and bottlers are helping their customers’ efficiency and safety with the best technology on the market.

Keep Cold and Flu Viruses Under Control with Closed Loop Technology

Proper cleaning helps prevent the spread of disease, keeping people safe through the prevalent common cold and flu season. And proper cleaning can often be achieved through end user training and an effective chemical management system.

When it comes to cleaning chemicals, end users – including schools, restaurants, hotels, and health care facilities – all have a responsibility to keep disease at bay within their facilities. In order to do this, they are looking for the most cost-effective and resource-efficient method; which is why closed loop chemical dilution and containment is critical – especially during this time of year.

Effective closed loop chemical management systems integrate the chemical, the packaging, and the dispensing device. Most importantly it eliminates costly mixing, measuring, and dispensing mistakes. This is not only costly on business’ wallets, but costly for public health reasons. In order to meet cleanliness standards and provide healthy facilities, end users must be sure to use the correct chemical in the accurate proportions. Chemical manufacturers and bottlers can help their end users achieve their health, safety, and financial goals through closed loop chemical systems.

Closed Looped Chemical Dispensing Through Hand Pump

As part of our vast line of closed loop chemical dispensing technology, RD Industries offers a hand pump system. This closed loop hand pump system provides end users the ability to use concentrated chemicals in areas where a water source is not available.

So how does this hand pump integrate closed loop chemical containment and dispensing technology? It’s equipped with an attachment that allows any bottle to be fitted with a SafTflo® insert. Our SafTflo® line is a self-vented, closed loop chemical containment system.  Used in conjunction with our Bottle Insert, the pump screws onto the neck of the bottle and the end user depresses the dispensing portion of the unit to deliver a pre-metered amount of chemical concentrate.  Then, add water to dilute.

The hand pump is true to the closed loop technology benefits, decreasing the possibilities of toxic leaks and spills, unsafe chemical handling, improper dilutions, and liability exposure. This portable unit can also be used anywhere – counter top, mobile cart, or in any low-chemical use area.
